Jammu and Kashmir bagged 10 medals, including six Gold and two Silver and two Bronze in Jeet Kune Do Federation Cup , held in Chandigarh from January 31 to February 2.
Out of 10 medallists, eight have been selected to represent the Country in the World Thai Martial Art Games to be held at Pattaya, Thailand on March 8, 2020.
“The competition was tough, but our players performed extraordinarily and bagged 10 medals.” Said Adnan Ayoub, Technical Secretary of J&K Jeet Kune Do Association, accompanied the team to Chandigarh.
The players who have won Gold medals in the event included Nasir Ali from Baramulla, Tajamul Gani from Bijbehara, Abdullah Irshad from Anantnag, Rasik Manzoor from Rawalpora, Sabir Aijaz and Anus Bin Yousuf from Natipora.
“Silver medals were bagged by Jasif Altaf from Anantnag and Owais Mehraj from Hawal, while Bronze medals were won by Yawar Ali from Baramulla and Rizwan Mehdi from Lal Bazar”, said Ayoub.
“These players represent institutions like Government Model High School, Baramulla, Cambridge Public School, Oxford, Presentation School, Dr AGMS City School, Spring Buds High School, Boys Higher Secondary School, Natipora and Tibaten Public School,” he added.
Expressing happiness over the performance of the players from J&K in the National event, Jeet Kune Do Martial Arts Federation, General Secretary, Sifu Lion Vikas Gihara, said the players from J&K have a good chance of winning medals in the upcoming World Thai Martial Art Games, which will be held in Thailand.
Now, the selected players have appealed to the Government for sponsorship their trip so that they can participate in the International Event which is scheduled to be held in March 8 at Pattaya, Thailand.
